Help & Videos for Playing Canasta Junction

Click on the two arrows in the corner of each video to expand to full screen
Hints
  1. Place your iPad or iPhone flat and use a stylus or pinky finger when you first start to place cards.  Remember it is the placement of the FINGER or STYLUS that dictates where a card is going, NOT the card itself.  Check out our video on Melding below to see what we mean!
  2. In order to play LIVE games, you must create a CJ ACCOUNT.  Go to ACCOUNT > FIRST TIME USERS (on the right side of the page) and enter a unique username and password together with your email address. Make sure you write down your login credentials in a safe place.
  3. Special Hands follow the rules of the Canasta League of America – Wild pairs hand, must also have Aces AND 7s.
  4. All new registrants will be given 50 tokens to test out Duplicate Canasta - a great way for players to compete.  In Duplicate Canasta, the cards, INCLUDING THE DRAW PILE are exactly the same for all players. Compete in 6 hands against all other players.  Tournaments are updated every day!

SPECIAL HANDS: Not every Canasta Special Hand is available on Canasta Junction. To see this and other rules, select INSTRUCTIONS from the Main Menu.

MELDING: Learn how to meld efficiently, card placement, melding after picking the pack.
HINTS:  FIRST. PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE!!!
When melding drag your card to the right and then
release.  Do not drag it past the the tray or through the meld area first

Make sure you don't release until the arrow/cursor/finger is ON the discard pile.

Your finger, stylus or a arrow MUST be in the middle of the meld area (or discard pile) for that card.  Notice that the meld area boxes are shorter than a card, so this means the card will stick out one way or the other. IT DOES NOT MATTER - the only thing that matters is where your finger is.

EX. If you have 5 nines  and are adding 6th, the arrow on the 6th 9 you are dragging has to be in the middle of the 9 area. Don't try to get it to the far right of the meld.

IPAD HINTS:
Lay it flat.
Use your pinky or a a stylus
Make sure your fingers are not on the "sensitive" part of the screen as this will impact the ability to draw your finger across the
iPad.
Getting Your friends to Join Your Game:
Tell you friends what time to meet you on CJ
Give them the name and password of the game - THEY ARE CASE SENSITIVE: We suggest using 4 numbers for the password.

1.Host sets up the game at the appointed time per the video "Starting A Private Game".  When you hit start it will say  “Waiting for three others”
2. Your three other players, open CJ, go to accounts and LOG IN. Return to Main Menu, then click on PLAY GAME.  They search for the game name the host gave (CASE SENSITIVE).  They don't need to put the whole thing in - just the first few letters to shorten the list.
3. When they find the game, click on it and the on JOIN in the lower right. It will ask for a password.
4. Enter the password as given to them by the host.
5. This will put you in the waiting room, until all players have arrived and then the host can select teams.
